My yesterdays are Your teachers, 
   each and every one.
They speak to me like wise preachers,
   that I'd be like the Son.

You are the Lord of the here and now.
   This is where we are.
In Your strength I choose to bow.
   Mercy brings the morning star.

You go before me, toward the new year,
   my future you will ford.
This revelation takes my fear,
   I walk behind You, Lord.

May I move without haste,
   in the joy of obedience.
Be my strength in all I face,
   walking in repentance.

Before, 
   behind, 
      at my side,
   You will be my God.
In Your Son I abide,
   Your new year is my lot.

In Your hands I leave the past,
   gone and irreversible.
As my sins have been cast,
  my future with You, invincible.
