Testimonies

all appear
before the
judgment seat
of Christ.

(Booming angelic voice,
neither sweet,
nor musical.)
"NEXT!"

(Author squints;
surprisingly, she's still
wearing her big,
heavy glasses.)
"PSSST!
Hey, ANGEL!"

(Angel isn't very
handsome, or strong-
looking; he doesn't
have big, pretty wings:
no wings are visible,
at all. The angel
is wearing a small pair
of reading glasses,
an off-beige-colored,
bunched-up, wrinkled,
too-large-of-a-size,
linen gown,
and carrying
a big clip-board,
and a BIC pen.
He looks like this
was supposed to be
his day off, but the
regular-shift-angel
had came down with a
sore throat, from
too much singing
in the Heavenly Choir
the night before.)
"What."

"What's THIS for?"

(Patient gaze,
over small pair
of reading glasses.)
(No-nonsense tone.)
"You're in Heaven."

(Whiny voice.)
"Yeah! I KNOW!
But....what's this LINE,
FOR? What are we
DOIN'.....goin' to see
a MOVIE?"

(Angel has a Philadelphia
accent, and the manner
of a dry-witted Northeastern'ner.)
"Uh, uh;
it's for the Bema Seat."

(Squint.)
"The WHAT?"
(Grimmace, with
a touch of cluelessness.)
"What's...THAT?"

(Bored gaze.)
"Judgment."

"WHAT?"
(Look around, innocently.)
(Squint.)
(Whisper, albeit,
belligerently, and
with a noticeable whine.)
"I thought we got to
SKIP all THAT?"

(Level gaze;
nasal-Philadelphia-tone.)
"Where'd ya hear that."

"In my BIBLE STUDIES!"

(Curious squint.)
"Uh, uh;
didn't they also teach
you, about the judgment
of the CHRISTIANS?"

(Grimmace.)
(Squint.)
"Yeah; sort'a."
(Thoughtful squint.)
"YEAH!
But....I'm a JEWISH
CHRISTIAN!"
(Shout.)
"Doesn't that make a
DIFFERENCE?"

(Thoughtful squint.)
(Back-to-bored gaze.)
(Shake rumpled-haired,
halo'ed head.)
(Peer over half-squared-off
reading glasses.)
(Nasal tone.)
"Uh, uh."

(Shout.)
(Big, heavy glasses
falling down nose.)
"HEY!
I GOT MY RIGHTS!"

(Level gaze,
over the square-off
reading glasses.)

"Shouldn't I have
MY OWN... LINE?"

"Uh, uh."
(Angelic glance
downward,
raising his eyebrows,
purposefully.)
"Just be THANKFUL......
to your SAVIOR:
that,
you're in LINE..
at ALL."

Then I saw
a great white throne
and him who
sat upon it...
And I saw the
dead,
great and small,
standing before
the throne,
and books
were opened.
