"Signs of Christmas"


Candles flicker, causing shadows on the wall

The fragrance of pine cones . . .Fill the air

The holly and mistletoe, hanging through the hall

Means that"Christmas" is abound, everywhere


The hustle & bustle of the busy city crowd

Moving quickly . . . From store to store

Salvation Army bells. . .Ringing aloud

With stores decorated prettier, than the year before


You can feel an electricity, in the air

Something "Special’" is about to begin

All the excitement, with all of the flair

As Christmastime is ushered in


We watch for the snowfall, to mark the season

We send greeting cards, to family and friends

With mention of "Jesus" as the reason

And . . .The special message it sends


Gifts are wrapped, and placed under the tree

Special foods and treats, are prepared

Decorations in windows, for all to see

Lawns, too, are all bright, with nothing spared


Children so anxious, waiting on old St. Nick

With dreams, envisioning his Sleigh, in the air

Knowing his visit will be fast and, real quick

As he comes down the chimney, with good cheer


It is a sweet time of reflection, for remembering the one

For whom this very day, is celebrated

The "Holy Birth" of Jesus, God's Son

At His offering of Salvation, we should all be elated


So, as we gather together . . .To bring good cheer

With our family, loved ones and friends

Let us thank God, for His Son, He holds dear

And the real meaning that "Christmas" sends
