Daniel 3:16-18 – “Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego replied, ‘O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you. If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God whom we serve is able to save us. He will rescue us from your power, your majesty. But even if He doesn’t, we want to make it clear to you, your majesty, that we will never serve your gods or worship the gold statue you have set up.”

He will Rescue

Our God is Lord over all creation. He is all-powerful and all-knowing, holding everything in His hands. Like Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, we do not need to defend ourselves to anyone as long as we are obeying God because ultimately, it is to Him that we must give account of every part of our lives (Hebrews 4:13). We must follow Him and worship and serve Him only and He will take care of us (Psalms 37:5). For as Scripture says, “Surely the arm of the LORD is not too short to save, nor his ear too dull to hear. (Isaiah 59:1)”. And again, “The Lord your God is with you. The mighty one will save you… (Zephaniah 3:17)”. And again God says, “is anything too hard for Me? (Genesis 18:14)”.

Everywhere Scripture displays the mighty power of God and His hand of deliverance. We ourselves have seen and heard how God saves. Therefore, let us stand for what is right and follow our God no matter the circumstances or threatenings of this world. God is able to change hearts and minds and circumstances. He could turn everything around this very next minute. But even if He doesn’t, He has already rescued you from eternal death, from wrath, judgment, and from the consequences and power of sin. If He does not rescue you from your circumstance, He will give you what you need to go through it. As He has said, “My grace is sufficient for you. (2 Corinthians 12:9)”.

No matter what opposition you face, “do not grow weary of doing good for in due time we shall reap if we do not give up. (Galatians 6:9)”. You may not see that harvest until heaven, but it will be more than worth it. As Scripture says, “I consider our present sufferings not worth comparing to the glory that will be revealed in us (Romans 8:18)”. So if you are facing persecution or financial trouble or illness or broken relationships or anything else that comes against you – cry out to God, for He alone can save you. Come before Him confident that He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7) and that He has the power to do all things (Matthew 19:26, Mark 9:23), then wait patiently for His answer. It may not come as soon as you would like or in the way that you wanted, but God will answer you for He is the “faithful and true” (Revelation 19:11). Even if your circumstances don’t seem to change, stand on the promises in His word. “…And after you have done everything to stand firm. Stand therefore… (Ephesians 6:13-14)”.

Point to Ponder

What troubles are you facing today? Do you believe that God can help you? Do you believe that He cares for you? Are you willing to trust Him and follow Him no matter what happens? After all, “God works all things together for the good of those who love Him and have been called according to His purpose. (Romans 8:28)”.

Let us pray, “Our God and our Father, You who made the heavens and the earth, we come to You knowing that You alone are able to save us from the troubles that come against us. We thank You for Your many promises of rescue and deliverance and the many ways that You have already saved us. We are so glad that You love us and take care of us and that You have promised us grace to help in time of need (Hebrews 4:16). Right now, Lord, we commit our way to You. May we follow You, serve You, and stand upon Your Word of truth no matter what comes our way. Whether You remove our circumstances or not, we know that You are always with us sustaining us by the power of Your Spirit who lives in us. May we say to the world and the enemy, ‘If we are thrown into the fire, the God we serve is able to save us. He will rescue us from your power. But even if He doesn’t, we will still serve Him and not another.’ Amen.”
