GETHSEMANE
in a sheltered garden
atop a hill
overlooking Jerusalem
He knelt in prayer
were His thoughts
filled with anguish of
foreknowledge
of betrayals to come
fulfilling prophecies?
a sense of well-being
that He would
accomplish
His Father’s plan?
did He wonder
about the worthiness
of mankind
for whom
He would sacrifice
His Life?
his nighttime vigil
ended
He walked
forward
to His Destiny:
a crucifix
upon a hill
