We, the members of this, the Entitlement Generation set forth the following creed.
(these are in no particular order because we believe we are entitled to every one with no exceptions)

- We believe customization is a right. If your product or service cannot be customized to suit our individual style, your product or service is dead to us. If we find that we have the same customizations as other people, we have the right to change our customization for free.

- We want things quickly. Google is fast, we can’t think of any reason everything else can’t be.

- We believe it’s ok to double park to keep others from parking too close to our vehicle that is better than everyone else’s.

- It’s not our fault. If you’ve determined that it is our fault, you have a fallacy in your conclusion. We may sound like fools attempting to prove that it’s actually your fault, but rest assured, it is. If you successfully convince us that it couldn’t be your fault, then it is the fault of somebody who is not present.

- It’s not our fault.

- If we have an “expired” coupon for your store, we don’t need you to waste our time explaining what the date means. We didn’t see it, therefore it is irrelevant. A coupon is a coupon and if you don’t accept it, we will sue you.

- At a restaurant, our food should be perfect. The first time. If it isn’t, we should get it for free. Don’t even try to apologize; you’ve already done irreparable damage to any relationship we may have been forming.

- If our payment is less than 45 days late we shouldn’t be charged a late fee. If you didn’t remind us to pay the bill, and then follow up with a message letting us know how long the grace period is (and that we are now IN the grace period), it isn’t our fault anyway. We will take our payment delinquencies to some more grateful business unless you wave our fees, again.

- It’s ok for us to park in a handicap parking spot. We pay taxes, just like they do. If we are written a ticket for doing so, we are able to simply remind the police officer that we pay his salary. Life will be good.

- If our phone is broken, it should be replaced immediately. Our calls and text messages are extremely important. We will switch providers if we have to wait more than an hour. Fix it.

- Whether we bought the extended warranty or not is not what’s important. We had no way of knowing we would need to use it, and that’s not our fault. We bought the product, isn’t that enough? You will cover any damage. We believe there are laws that we can’t recite which require you to fix it.

- We don’t need receipts for returns. The customer is always right. We are the customer. More than likely your return policy, clearly stating that a receipt is required, was posted in a color I can’t see.

- Yes, our trash is always at the curb by 5am. As far as you know. You should have picked it up.

- If we want it and we don’t have it, the responsibility is yours to make sure we get it. If you can’t get it for us, then we expect it from the Government. If the Government didn’t already figure out that we weren’t going to be able to get it, then we would like a different Government until such time as we have a Government that will give us what we want when we want it.

- When a free service, like Twitter, Facebook, Hotmail, Linked-In, Google, Yahoo!, or MySpace is unavailable; even though we chose to rely on it to store our important information, facilitate our sole communication with our friends and family, and tend to our virtual farms and worlds, you owe us an explanation and potentially a public apology. Not to mention the time lost while we had to actually work instead of logging in.
