Do you believe?
How do I know if I believe enough?
You don’t have to believe enough [it’s not how much you believe, it’s who you believe in], you must believe that Jesus took all your sins upon himself and gave you his perfect righteousness [you receive his righteousness when you believe] -2 Corinthians 5:21-For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
Are all people sinners? Yes, the Bible says, in “Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God”
What must I do to be saved? – Ye must be born again [have a second birth- a spiritual birth through Christ], John 3:3 verily, verily, I say unto thee, except a man be born again, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
Romans 10:9-10-For if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
“I have always thought that you just have to do the best you can, that’s all God expects”,” isn’t that enough?” No, that is not correct. God is holy and expects perfection. That’s where Jesus comes in, he lived a perfect life, fulfilled the law and then he died, was buried and rose again three days later, triumphant over death. If you believe this you will be saved. 1 Corinthians 15:3-4..how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures..
Why did Jesus die? He knew the penalty for sin was death-separation from God. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord- Romans 6:23 Jesus paid the penalty for our sins when he died on the tree [the cross].
What can I do to receive this gift?
Pray and ask God to forgive your sins, come into your heart and save you. This is how you receive it; you ask and take it for yourself. It’s very much like when you receive a birthday or Christmas gift; you simply take it when it is offered to you.
