Stewardship
Do you believe God owns everything? Many people believe He created everything, but some believe what they have is theirs because they earned it. The truth is, God is the Owner of everything and we are His stewards.
The dictionary defines a steward as a person who manages another's property or financial affairs; one who administers anything as the agent of another or others. Does that definition describe you? We must have a stewardship mentality with all God has given to us.
I am not just talking about money or the possessions you have right now. I believe God wants us to be a good and faithful steward over EVERYTHING we have which includes our thoughts. Imagine stewarding your thoughts the way God wants you to manage them. He knows how He wants you to think, but are you thinking His thoughts at all times?
The other day I thought about how we can be wise stewards over our thoughts. I knew God would not share this with me without confirming it in His Word. He then reminded me of 2 Corinthians 10:5 which says, "Casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ". (NKJV)This verse proves we can be stewards over our thought life.
How would that change your life if you only thought what God wanted you to think? Our direction in life is reflected by what we put in our mind. Recently I heard a message about how the mind is like a field where a farmer plants his seed for a harvest. What we choose to plant in our mind will eventually produce a harvest. What seeds are you planting?
Once we begin to have this stewardship mentality, our lives will never be the same. I believe this is the extreme stewardship God has wanted from mankind since the beginning. Begin to focus on being more than just a steward over your possessions and ask God to reveal to you a mindset He desires for you to have as His faithful steward.
Remember, God is the owner and provider. You are His steward. If you have been trying to provide for your family, its time to surrender that role back to God and see yourself as one who is managing all God has given unto you.
