The Memory


With what do I grasp and understand
A place in time?
Enduring yet small, a grain of sand,
A life sublime.
I hold in my hand to cherish now
And carry near
A piece of my heart I know not how
Or where to steer.
Caressing the thought with tender care,
I surely see
The memory lost; I found it there
Beneath the tree.
Salvation, a gift, is giv’n to me,
Undeserving.
His mercy bestowed a life to be
Everlasting.
The choice that I made is written where
None can erase
My name from the book beyond the stairs
Of life I pace.
Remember the hope without the cost;
Remember Him.
The light that you shine into the lost
Will never grow dim.
