PICTURE THIS...

Ever had a fight with bullies or bad folks – ones who were really unfair to you? Think back to the worst disagreement of your life - picture the people in your mind. What if these rascals got to do anything they wanted – to you – it would be bad.

How would it be if they could get a friend to betray you and drag you out of your house at night, to a kangaroo court? There your enemies were the judges; they determined you were guilty and began to beat you – it would be horrible.

Then suppose they paid people to accuse you and drug you through downtown naked, insulting you all the way. Your friends deserted you or denied knowing you, and the government approved of it – it would be unbelievable.

Worst of all, these enemies had the power to kill you in a slow, agonizing way in front of the whole town. Your ex-friends left you naked and bleeding – there are no words to describe it. It would be unimaginable and beyond horrific.

By now you realize this is a description of Jesus’ earthly experience – but it is much more real when we think of it related to our lives. When we put people from our experiences into the story, we begin to see the dimensions of the ordeal – it is beyond incredible!

Who are the “Pharisees” in your life and can you imagine willingly submitting to that kind of treatment? Jesus had the terrible weight of all the sins of the world on Him, yet He responded by asking God to forgive His evil enemies – it is staggering.

The holy King of the universe happily accepted this awful treatment to save confused sinners like you and I. This is what Jesus did to pour out the incomparable love of heaven, and it shows His faithfulness to every hurting soul – it is glorious.

Sometimes we are tempted to think life is tough or circumstances are overwhelming, but contrasted with Jesus’ experience, it’s a grand picnic. And don’t ever think no one understands the difficulties you are enduring – He’s suffered it all and far more!
