Only in my life, could something like this probably ever happen. And I say this, because with my life, who could ever come up with something like this, unless they actually did it?

It is April 2009, and I am in training in the state in which I live, for the Ombudsman Program. I have waited six years to reach this moment, and now it is happening...

The Ombudsman Program is a state mandated program, established on behalf of the Office of The Aging. It was established to give our elderly citizens knowledge and how to exercise their rights, and to understand that they have the rights to dignity, respect and have a contribution to make to this society...

Anyway, I am attending a training class, and have had four hours of sleep within two days. Now, for me, this is unfortunately a normal circumstance, since I suffer from chronic insomnia and have for quite some time, and a resolution to my problem has not been able to be found...

So, while this training class is underway, I find I must excuse myself to use the "bathroom", and leave the class. Now, I find the first bathroom, walk in right past two men's urinals, never realizing I am in a men's room and go into a stall. While in the stall, I "take care of business", wrap it up, open the door, and there is this little elderly man using a urinal. We locked eyes, his in shock, mine thinking, "Where in God's name am I", and quickly went back into the stall and closed the door...

As I stand in the stall, I am having a mental conversation with Our Lord. "Now Lord, I know we have talked about this insomnia issue many times before, but I really need more than four hours of sleep in two days, because I am having this conversation in the men's room, and I am a woman". This presents just alittle bit of a problem for me...

And as I am standing in this stall, I am trying to think how am I going to pull this off like "nothing out of the ordinary has happened", and suddenly I hear the little man washing his hands at the sink. So, with as much dignity as I could muster, I make the decision to just walk up to the sink and wash my hands...

I do this, and as we are both washing our hands, I casually look over at the little elderly man, and say to him, "So, this is the men's room"? "Yeah, yeah he says, the lady's room is right down the hall". So still trying to play it cool, I casually say to this man, "Well, the next time I will have to try that bathroom", and he looks at me, shakes his head and we both leave...

When I get back to class, I look at my bottle of water, and start praying to Our Lord, "Oh Please, turn this water into wine, because right about now, I need a big old hit of something strong"!...

And just think, this state is going to give me a badge, to walk into an elderly facility, and work towards problem resolution. I have a feeling, I will probably meet the Administrator of the facility that I am assigned to, in their men's room...

When I think back in time, back to the year 2000, when Our Lord placed the calling for my becoming a "caregiver" to the elderly, I am just at a loss for words...

As the Creator of all things, I know he sees "The Big Picture", while I am still trying to grasp each moment of insanity in my life...

I can't be sure, but right about now, there is the distinct possibilty that he may be sitting on the edge of his throne, head in hand thinking, "I'm not really sure this was part of the big plan"...
