There was this problem of guilt, of a whole world of rebels defying
and antagonizing God - deserving of death. Someone had to take the
blame and suffer the consequences. He was a Scapegoat…

When He came there was hypocrisy, cruelty, arrogance, pride and
greed - and that was just in the religious leaders! The poor,
disadvantaged and working class had little hope. He was a Champion…

Theology was all about rules, the priests served themselves and the
object was to glorify self. King David’s idea of a merciful, loving
God had vanished - they had it backwards. He was the Light…

He talked about attitudes, people’s heart and their motives. He
talked about the need to be born from above. He talked about
building on the Rock and about taking up a cross. He was a Teacher…

He talked about the great compassion of the Father, who welcomed
the prodigal home and who even cares for every sparrow. He was a
proud Son…repairing the damage between heaven and earth, even if it
killed Him.
