Encouragement
Funny isn’t it how one word can summon up many different thoughts in us? I got to thinking or pondering as I like to state on this simple but very active word in most peoples vocabulary.
What do I label, who do I label, are labels even important actually?
I label basically in some wishful hope of becoming better organized in my life from the kitchen to the office; and do a fairly poor job of it generally. I’ve known a few perfectionists in my lifetime, which have everything labeled and are so organized they almost squeak when they find anything out of place.
Myself, I rather have some form of life’s enjoyment here on earth, maybe my kitchen isn’t as organized and I have to search for something or heaven forbid I lose something for months on end. I’m constantly losing my “Remind me to do” labels it seems, I forget the grocery list I carefully wrote my needs on. Hopeless it seems for me to be proficient in some of these areas. Why you may ask, because they aren’t high up in importance to me evidently? Things that are high priority usually gets done, we need to monitor our priorities maybe?
I do have a few areas I’ve pretty proud of for the most part, I have all the 66 books of the Bible labeled for easy reference, I have most of my journals I write in labeled or at least the year and date on them, I even have folders in my Pc labeled where I can save all that important stuff I never seem to get back to follow up on. My files cabinet is organized and labeled, but I have baskets of printed “to keep” items not filed in them yet.
Seriously though we are a people who love to label everything, we label out churches and their doctrines, we label people as friendly, sad, mean, pretty or ugly without even knowing them at times. We even label a choice in our minds whether the Lord is important or irrelevant on a daily basis it seems.
Most of us would do ourselves a big favor to drop all forms of labeling it seems, since we have the tendency to forget the greatest label of all comes from the Lord, when He personally labeled His believers as “His”. “Praise the Lord!
All have sinned and fallen short of His Glory; His label is all we should seek to obtain, then one has really prepared in the area that really matters. I remind myself often that every one of my earthly labels will be forgotten and left here in my habitually unorganized and messy office I spend time in. I somehow can’t visualize Paul or any of the Apostles having to get everything perfect before they spread the gospel of the Lord’s love to others, can you? Just a thought! God Bless one and all who the Lord has labeled as His own.
