Healing

"Are You LISTENING?"

"Yes,
My beloved."

"I don't think You
WERE!"

"I hear every word,
My beloved."

(Squint.)
(Frown up at ceiling.)
"Then, what did I
SAY?"

[CHUCKLE!]

(Yell up at ceiling.)
"Which ones were
my FAVORITE?"

[VERY SOLEMN GAZE.]
"Blueberry,
My precious."

(Glare up at ceiling.)
(Point upwards,
accusingly.)
"Uh, UH!
They were the
CINNAMON!"

[SHAKE HEAD,
VERY SOLEMNLY.]
"No;
not until much later."

(Mumble.)
(Squirm.)
(Mumble.)
"Still.......I bet
You get a lot more
INTERESTING
CONVERSATIONS,
than THIS!"

[SMILE!]
"No,
My beloved."

(Frown!)
(Look away.)
"Yeah!
I bet!"

"You are
the apple of
My Eye."

(Snort!)
"Yeah!
The BRUISED and
MUSHY one!"

"Perhaps,
My precious."

(Tearful silence.)

[TENDER PAUSE.]
"But,
Mine,
nonetheless."
