I’ve got a thorn in my flesh,
I don’t know how it came to be.
Just one day there it was,
And attached itself to me.

It is such a big one,
That everyone can see.
There's no way to hide it,
It’s become a part of me.

But, I don’t really like it,
I wish it would go away.
The only thing I can do,
Is to go to God and pray.

Lord, You have all the answers,
You know just what to do.
But, You can’t do it alone,
You want me to help You too.

So, Lord you take this thorn,
And keep it far from me.
If it should come back one day,
I promise to You I’ll flee.

It will never get so close,
To attach itself to me.
I have learned my lesson,
And will always trust in thee.

Well, here I am without thorn,
But what is this I see.
In this life of roses,
Another one has attached to me!
