Grief

Weather here is endless,
Ticking clocks in sight.
I hold hands with loved ones.
Every face familiar.

We walk along the shore,
Blue waters look so calm.
Sand is irritating my feet,
Stuck, between my toes.

We meet the ice cream vendor,
I ask for a double vanilla cone.
He smiles, no fee is paid.
As my tongue tastes the cool flavour,
I dribble a little saliva.

Wipe it with the back of my hand.
Even catch the bottom of my nose,
Oops! Tastes so good!

Then we reach the caves.
Deeper we walk.
Rainbow's colours are intense.
We stop.
I look up and see
The brightest light that ever there was!
I tip-toe forward, looking behind me,
To see every face familiar, smiling
At me, waving to me.
I walk, ever so softly upon sands
That feels like talcum powder.

To find summer here, is endless.
I feel wrapped in arms, holding me tight.
Kissed by a million lips,
Welcoming me home.

I remember nothing.................
Of the sand.
