A Work of Art
Each of us is a work in progress – we are clay in the potter’s hands, we are the canvas the artist paints on, we are gold and silver being refined by fire. None of us is finished yet, but already we are a work of art and with us God is creating a masterpiece. Everything in our lives is used by God to mold and shape us (Romans 8:28). When we come to saving faith in Jesus Christ, we are reborn and recreated – we are transformed. As Scripture says, “anyone who is in Christ is a new creation – the old has gone and the new has come (2 Corinthians 5:17)”. He recreated us and continues to shape us into who we need to be to do the things that He planned long ago (before creation) for us to do which is the life He has called you to (Ephesians 4:1). God does more than save you, He remakes you and calls you to a purpose in this world. Your life is not an accident or a mistake (God doesn’t make mistakes) for you were made with a purpose and there is work that God will do through you.
Yet there is an enemy who would steal your dreams and the purpose for which God has made you. As Scripture says, “the thief comes only to steal, kill, and destroy. (John 10:10)” and he will if you let him. He will fill your ears with lies for “he is a liar and the father of all lies. (John 8:44)”. The enemy will convince you that your life doesn’t matter, that you can’t make a difference, and that God would never want to use you anyway with how you’ve messed up. But Jesus says, “I have come in order that you might have life in all it’s fullness. (John 10:10)”. You were not created to merely exist – God has a wonderful plan and purpose for you life full of meaning and adventure and to His glory if only you would trust Him and be brave enough to follow Him completely. This does not mean that it will be easy for no adventure ever worth having is easy. If it were easy where would the glory be? But there is glory beyond your imagining. As Paul said, “I consider that our present suffering is not worth comparing to the glory that will be revealed in us. All creation wait in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed. (Romans 8:18-19)”. There is much darkness in this world but the dawn is coming (Romans 13:12) and those who have lived for Christ will shine like the sun (Matthew 13:43) (and like the Son – see 1 John 3:2). Therefore, don’t be weary and give up for your reward is coming (Galatians 6:9) and soon the coming One (Jesus Christ) will come and will not delay (Hebrews 10:37).
Point to Ponder
Do you feel that there is a purpose for your life? What are you living for? Have you let the enemy rob your life of meaning so that instead of really living you are simply existing? That is not what God wants for you. As God’s children, we ought to do more than survive – we are to thrive, no matter the circumstance. Are you ready to renounce satan’s lies and live the life God calls you to by daily surrender and obedience to Him? Only by obeying God can you truly be free to live the kind of life you long for and only then will you be the masterpiece God intends for you to be, doing the things He has planned for you to do.
Let’s pray, “Lord God, thank You for creating us anew through Your Son so that we can be all that You intended for us to be and do the good things You have planned for us to do (Ephesians 2:10). Father, we know that Your plans are for our good to give us hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11). Help us to want Your will and plan for our lives so that we might truly live and not merely exist. Help us to see You and ourselves rightly, rejecting the lies of our enemy who would steal from us the life that You call us to (Ephesians 4:1) – a life of righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit (Romans 14:17). In the end, may our lives truly be a masterpiece to Your glory. Amen.”

Amen and Amen! Wonderful read! "Scared to surrender your life" is a very big problem in the church. God paid a very high price for our lives, and if we want His Son as Savior, than He MUST BE OUR LORD ALSO! Open our eyes Lord!
