In an effort to fend off bad information about the White House’s new Health Care Plan, the administration asks citizens to report “fishy” information. The American Heritage Foundation said, “The official White House blog now asks Americans: ‘If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to [email protected].’" Fox News also reports that conservative talk show hosts are attacking the request in an uproar against what may be Big Brother tactics.

You must admit the request seems fishy itself. Why is the White House asking citizens to help it combat bad information? It may be that the one organization with the largest microphone in the country does not exactly speak clear enough for ordinary citizens to understand. The fishiest part of all is that the White House has not done what it should?

The way to combat disinformation is extremely simple. It may, however, take a lot of discipline. Anyone in the position of fighting off bad press, rumors, and such should focus on the truth. With that as the object of your every thought, choose the subject matters and words that are iron clad… build on that foundation. If the truth remains the steadfast heart of the issue then, with time, you will prevail.
