Me and Poet Make One

This sentence is music to my ears
Some people don’t know how it feels
To write and write for many years
Through smiles, trials and lots of tears

All these thoughts going through my head
Sometimes
I don’t know where it’s a blessing or a curse
I’ll be driving down the road
On the spot I get an adrenalin rush

Pull over to the side of the road
Grab a pen
Write on paper or anything I can find
Thought upon thought
Line upon line

I’ve been known to be in a crowd
Everyone around is talking out aloud
All of a sudden there it goes
The thoughts in my head are circling in rhymes
This can happen time after time

I hope someone knows what I’m trying to explain
Honest, sometimes it can be quite a pain
If I try to shut it all down
The poet in me just hangs around
I know what she’s doing

She’s trying to write a master piece
I honestly wish her the best
There are so many writers now
I read some of it
don’t have time for all the rest

Does anyone know what I’m talking about?
There are times when I need to shout
I can shout with my pen and shout with my ink
Get my point across one way or another
I have to write for my sisters and also my brothers

I am never alone as long as I have my best friend
Her name is poet
Sometimes, I call out to her,
I know she’s there
Her reply is only empty air

All and all, end to end
I just figured it all out
She’s my best friend
I just stopped dead still and let out a sigh
I know I have to write till I die
