He stands there laughing,
filling the hall way
blocking out the light,
sneering at me.

And my heart pounds,
my stomach churns,
and tears fill my eyes.
I see no way past.

I bow my head
and turn to walk away,
back down the road I came,
sunken in defeat

But you stand beside me
holding my hand
and whisper
“Do not be afraid”

And the giant shrinks.
The light returns.
I see the way ahead
and a mouse scuttling for his hole!
