Message to the end-time church; to the Church today
Message from the Lord with a purpose- keep them on the straight and narrow
Elements of the message:
Acknowledgement of what they are doing right. God is not just there looking for when you do wrong and pounce on you. He is please with righteousness and says it to encourage you.
Minces no words about what you’re doing wrong
Counsels you to repent; tells you what o do
Motivation: love, wants to restore; does not want you to be a prey to the enemy3:19 wants to keep us from self deception- the worst form of deception
Gives an incentive for repentance; ‘those who overcome’
Three areas of deception for this church
I am rich- depending on outward goods, money, property, self-made, less dependence on God; but they were bankrupt, in penury, beggarly; goods success is not God success or good success.
I can see- only in the natural, spiritually blind; they depended on the 5 senses; we all need two setoff eyes- spiritual and natural to operate in the two realms.
I am well-clothed- fully covered, warm, protected. Insured, but she was naked exposed, vulnerable, had a false sense of well-being
Application
We can be like this too unless we are careful
Acknowledge your areas of deficiency
Repent of your self-righteousness; stop deceiving yourself
Repentance restores our intimacy
A message from God will :
1. acknowledge the good thing you have done
2. point out the error of your ways and
3. point you in the right direction
4. it will also give you an incentive for repentance
So know the difference between conviction and condemnation.
The devil condemns you, ignores the good things you do, does not show you the way out or give you an incentive for change

A. The Holy Spirit convicts and the primary purpose is restoration.
Condemnation makes you feel bad without showing you the way out or the need to repent.

They were poor, naked and blind

.I can be poor naked and blind without knowing it.

It will not only convict but also correct and convert (show you what to do , lead to true repentance)

Self-deception
What happen if we refuse to repent?
Forfeit the promise for overcomers, become enslaved and open wide the gates of hell.
