A dog barks in the distance
carried on the still warm evening
breeze through my open window

the leaves of the katsura whisper
of water over stones
and thoughts washed clean

I lounge in cotton sheets
while indigo darkness absorbs
twinkling lives of distant neighbours

careful

hush now

and you will hear…

waves embracing shoreline
and the stirring of gentler things

A great example of how sensing things can happen without touching them. You do more than illustrate the physical but also the sensed in this write.

You have the gift of making pictures with your words. Blessings to you. I want to thank you for the sweet remarks you left on my wife’s site, Trish Thompson. I get a love note every morning from my precious wife. She is my joy, my love, and my true helpmate in ministry. Who could ask for anything more? Her article is at http://www.faithwriters.com/article-details.php?id=101221

Good to read another of your beautifully descriptive poems, with it's irregular rhythm and carefully chosen words. Speaks to me.

This is very inspiring. This style is harder for me to get into than basic rhyme, so this is an honest compliment. Congratulations on behing highlighted!

As I read this, memories flowed back as I remember experiencing exactly what you have written. My location was inland rather than near the ocean. This poem was very relaxing to read. Good Job.
