Prayers

If you love and believe in Jesus Christ, and depend on Him as your only means of salvation, please don't click off of this article without at least praying, "Your will be done."

When I was a child, before God had made Himself clear to me, or before I had allowed Him to, I made a number of very strong attatchments with people in much the same spiritual state as I was in. We were "Christians" together, and now as I look back on how easily swayed we all were, I add, "sort of."

Since then, I have tasted and seen that the Lord is good (this is another story about a definite turning point), but my friends have derailed--crashed and burned--flipped out.

I am extremely grieved over this, but I thank God for the spiritual weapon of prayer. Shish, He said pray about everything, and for these beloved friends, I cannot help but do it.

Below, I believe, is a prayer strategy. Brothers, sisters, please help me.

Exodus 17:11-12 (New International Version)
As long as Moses held up his hands, the Israelites were winning, but whenever he lowered his hands, the Amalekites were winning. When Moses' hands grew tired, they took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur held his hands up—one on one side, one on the other—so that his hands remained steady till sunset.

I want so much to see my friends know how sweet and dependable Jesus is, and to build on Him as a foundation. I want them spiritually safe, which is, we must remember, a far more permanent safety that the physical one we take so seriously.

Psalm 37:4 (New International Version)

Delight yourself in the LORD
and he will give you the desires of your heart.

As far as I can tell, I have done this, though not as consistently as I would have liked. I also need prayer to stay out of an "unequally yoked" companionship with them while they are giving my sweet Savior the cold shoulder.

Matthew 17:20 (New International Version)

He replied, "Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you."

I know He can do this. Sometimes He doesn't do what we expect, but I know He knows what He is doing.

Jesus,

Please have mercy on me, and have mercy on these friends. I know You don't deserve the treatment they are giving You, but since this is the day of grace, and since they are still alive, please show them who You are, and help them accept You. I doubt that they ever really knew You.

Your will be done. Forgive me if I have misunderstood your words, and keep me up. I cannot keep myself up.
