Nameless Multitude

Are you able to look at me?
I am here
in the:
Homeless,
Hungry,
Lonely,
Sick,
Disfigured
Wounded,
Loveless,
Crippled,
Persecuted,
Widowed,
Fatherless-
And in such
Precious
Hearts
And
Souls…
Is
Where
Christ
The
King
Dwells.

How will you serve The King?

Matthew 25:35-36
For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat:
I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger,
and ye took me in: 36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick,
and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

Julie, this poem is filled with such compassion. It puts me to shame. What Am I doing about it? It reminded me of a poem I wrote, called "Apathy". I have not shared it yet, but you have inspired me to do so. As soon as I get my computer back, I will put it on. Problem is, I have not yet gotten a good ending for it. How do I show MY compassion for the nameless multitude?" I always say, "Bring them to my door and I will gladly share, but how do I find those who are in need?" I don't get out much.

"Are you able to look at me?" I sat here just shaking my head, knowing that the fact that it's even a question makes our Father's heart ache as much as it makes my own. I've been naked and hungry. And can, therefore, look on the naked and hungry with compassion. But having been there, I am very aware that many cannot... or will not. I think people get so caught up in playing "church" that they fail to BE The Church. It's heartbreaking. I want to be where Jesus is. And I know without doubt that He is near to the brokenhearted. Nakedness and hunger are just a couple of things that can leave one brokenhearted. So I want to run to them... if they'll receive me. I'm afraid so many have seen the mis-representation of Christians that they fear letting us "in." Lord, let us be compassionate examples of who YOU are in us! (Sorry about the very long comment. This one just happened to have hit a soft spot.)

And Julie, I was a sinner, and someone shared the Gospel with me when I was young.
Christ does work through His children here on earth. That opportunity we pass up may cost someone a great blessing that God intended to pass on through us. WOW! That makes us stand up and pay attention when that thought crosses our mind. Thanks for sharing.

Julie, this reminds me of how we long to look upon the face of Jesus, not realizing we see him in every face we meet along the road of life. Very nice, thought provoking poem.
