"I write, therefore I am,"
Samuel Johnson said.
I read those words with voracious wonder.
Am I what I write?
Or, do I write what I am?
Are the words I pen, art?
Or, is the art in the unwritten words?
I give, I take.
I create, I erase.
But do I make the characters who they are?
Or, do the characters make me who I am?
I drink in their words and actions,
unpredictable as they are.
I reflect on their situations and choices and wonder,
"Will they ever live up to my expectations,
and me to my vast potential?"
I can only try without ceasing
and learn as I go.
For I am,
and therefore I write.
