The Lord thundered out from Heaven,
As the Most High uttered His Word;
Fiery coals had been given,
Hailstones hitting the ground was heard.

His arrows sent to scatter them,
Flashed lightning their path thwarted;
Discomfited as to condemn,
Because they have been hard hearted.

The channels of the sea were seen,
As world’s foundations had laid bare;
For rebuking of what had been,
A blast of the Lord’s breath declare.

He was sent from on high above,
From many waters drew me out;
Rescuing me from foes thereof,
An enemy having strong doubt.

Rescued from those who hated me,
Even though they had been too strong;
The Lord was enabled to see,
Where the enemy had gone wrong.

They confronted me in the day,
The time of my calamity;
But the Lord was my rock and stay,
For resisting the enemy.

The Lord brought me into a place,
Delivering me from my foe;
He rescued with mercy and grace,
He is delighted to bestow.
