In Philip Yancey's and Dr. Paul Brand's book 'The gift of pain', the necessity of sensitivity is wonderfully explained, a thing about which we are often ignorant in our life,
however is of much importance and vital to our peaceful existence.
Paul mentions the same need while writing to the church at Ephesus mentioning about them who live away from God....
"Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, and they are full of greed." Ephesians 4:19 (NKJV)
We do see this in the world and are most pitiable if it is found in our lives.
Why do we do not have a guilt feeling when we do wrong? why are we not hurt when we sin? do we really lose our peace and comfort when away from the Lord God?
Prophet Samuel when he instructed Saul said this to him....
" Then the Spirit of the Lord will come upon you, and you will prophesy with them and be turned into another man. And let it be, when these signs come to you, that you do as the occasion demands; for God is with you. " 1 Samuel 10:6-7 (NKJV)
Samuel was telling him about the anointing of the Holy Spirit and how this changes a person.
Such a person who has the anointing of the Lord has in his heart the desires of the Lord, for God is with him.
The most important thing then is to listen and heed to the Holy Spirit's voice and instructions and then we shall bring glory to God.
May the Lord fill us with His Spirit, restore unto us the sensitivity of heart to bring glory to Him and then we will live a victorious Spirit filled life as the Lord desires for us.
