Currently I am reading Philip Yancey's book on Prayer and have encountered wonderful examples of them who prayed and saw a breakthrough in their lives.
Nothing can replace the time and power of prayer in our life.
The Lord had a wonderful strategy for His people to win over Ai and this was a part of the plan which He stated to Joshua :
" So he took about five thousand men and set them in ambush between Bethel and Ai, on the west side of the city. " Joshua 8:12 (NKJV)
The men in ambush were the reason for the victory, for when the enemy thought that they were victorious and were full of strength against God's people, suddenly there arises a strength greater and unknown that turns the game and brings victory for God's people.
In our personal life, its our prayer life that can defeat the devil, our prayer life may not be visible to others, however it is the most powerful part of our personality.
Our prayer life determines our relationship with God, the more we pray, the more we know Him and He knows us.
The devil might not be afraid of a million people who approach him by their own strength than one person who approaches him with God's strength.
I have read about Job, Daniel, Moses, Abraham, Paul, Peter etc. in the Bible who were prayer warriors. I have read about George Muller, D.L.Moody, C.H Spurgeon, Martin Luther etc. who were prayer warriors and now I have the beautiful opportunity to be a prayer warrior. How much will I make of it? how much will prayer reflect a part of me?
I need to plan my time, when George Muller was asked, 'how do you find time to pray in this busy schedule of your's', he replied, Í do not get time to pray, I take out the time to pray.'
Since the devil knows that prayer is our greatest strength, he will do all he could to keep us from praying, but we need the prayer power, we need the hidden power within us so that we may be victorious in every circumstances through Christ as we pray to Him always.
