6 Now godliness with contentment is great gain. 7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. 8 And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content.


Dear Beloved Brothers and Sisters,

certainly we are living in some challenges times and there are some difficult road ahead. Oftentimes, we find ourselves struggling to make ends meet. We tend to be concern about the automobile, credit cards, the utility, cable and the phone bills. At times we even struggle with paying the mortgage, rent and purchasing food. We are stressed regarding our basic necessities of life which are a direct contradiction to our faith and belief systems as believers in Jesus Christ and citizens of the Kingdom. Is there any relief is sight....? Yes there is, the bible declares that man can not live on bread alone but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of Lord. The above scripture text gives us some perspective. There is a theme regarding a mystery in the book of 1 Timothy 3 chapter and 16 verse, And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness....this theme is called the mystery of godliness. The theme is then pick up in chapter 4 verse 7, "But reject profane and old wives’ fables, and exercise yourself toward godliness. 8 For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come." Godliness is the answer regarding our finances because the scriptures declares that it is profitable for all things, not only will godliness help us now but it will help us in that which is to come. Then finally the mystery is summarized in the featured scripture text in chapter 6 verse 6," Now godliness with contentment is great gain. 7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. 8 And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content." Godliness with contentment is great gain therefore; my brothers and sisters our focus must not be on our situations nor our circumstances but on living in a manner which pleases God and being content knowing that God shall supply all our need according to his riches in glory. Great gain is not chasing dollars but great gain is when dollars chase you because the bible declares that the blessing of the Lord it maketh rich and addeth no sorrow and God is the one that give us power to get wealth.
