“A day spent with you is worth more than a thousand spent elsewhere.” Psalms 84:10

It is always so agonizing to leave one’s loved ones and travel far away.
What really tears my heart is not just the thought of leaving them but the hours and moments that I have to spend before meeting them once again.
Though thoughts of them are permanent in my heart, the distance is always a deterrent.

Christmas is the homecoming of our Lord on earth when God came to live with man; when heaven was joined to earth.
It is always that sentimental time of the year, when we start reminiscing and feeling all nostalgic.

We look back on the events of the year that is coming to an end as we await the birth of our Savior. We have been preparing for this great during the advent weeks. Somehow, there always seemed to be a special touch to the Christmas cards which were handwritten as compared to the current e.cards which are sent in an instant.

This is the season to have a vivid remembrance of that Christmas night so long ago in Bethlehem, as we recall how Mary & Joseph travelled on that long and tiring journey to Bethlehem and their anguish at not finding a room at the inn.
We remember that glorious hour when the Son of man was born in a poor stable, the biting cold that the infant child endured and his tender cries.

We too rejoice as the angels once proclaimed the good news to the shepherds who were filled with awe at the sight of the Saviour.
We also recall the fulfilling trip of the three wise men who paid homage in true royalty to the king of heaven and earth.

The nativity scene should be fresh in our minds because this is what Christmas is all about.
God’s very presence among man. Our hearts should exult with joy as we rejoice; “Exult O Zion! And sing for joy; For great in your midst is the Holy One of Israel.”

As I travel home to meet my loved ones to share the spirit of the Christmas season and the love of Christ, my thoughts will be with them as I touch down on my homeland to a joyous Christmas homecoming.
