kneel and pray
raise your hands
and close your eyes
But where is your heart
My child?
Purity
to defend
Stay away
from evil men
But how will they know
My love?
Sunday comes
dress your best
Fit a smile
over your pain
But how can I touch
Your heart?
Wednesday night
meet to pray
Cannot miss
or stay away
But when can I talk
My child?
My heart is not moved
by your acts of
repetitive service
and devotion
I don’t need
sacrifice and
ritual
to feed my ego
I am God
Be still and know
Me
Come as you are
sit and wait
I will come
and speak of love
deep in your heart
My child
Purity
and righteousness
worked within
reach outward
to widow and orphan
My little ones
Gather together
encourage and learn
Lean on each other
in sorrow and joy
Be the body of Christ
for the world
My heart is moved
as you come to Me
with every breath
in gratitude
I love to see you
reach out and touch
the broken and hurting
just like My son
I am God
Be still and know
Me
