When we pray to our gracious and loving Lord Jesus Christ we often wonder if he hears our prayer and we are anxious to find out if our prayers will be answered. Often the answers are not what we expect but our Lord has returned our call on Him. We should praise Him for everything that comes our way as what we see as a disappointment often turns to a wonderful blessing.

We read in the Bible as it assures us in 1 John 5:14-15, " And this the confidence we have in Him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us , whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him. "

We should pray each day before making any major decision and even small decisions. for the Lord is our protector and gives us guidance. Most Christians have a life full of answered prayers and the blessings may be Material, Physical, or Spiritual blessings. Some prayers are answered right away and other prayers take the time schedule the Lord has for us.

I want to tell you about a prayer that was answered and I praise the Lord for his love and meeting our needs, and my wife tells me it was not a dream. My wife and I love to travel around the country by AMTRAK as the train gives us as seniors the freedom of not driving the large RV we previous owned. We can view the scenery the Lord has provided us and enjoy a leisure trip.

We had paid for a compartment train trip to Washington DC and New Orleans with layovers in the cities. The hotels were paid also, however, we needed funds for meals off the train, taxi, and other expenses. Being in the wholesale fishing tackle business for over 40 years, I called on several businesses expecting to obtain the need funds but was disappointed with the results. A couple days later I told my wife we would have to put the additional costs on credit cards, but I was going to praise the Lord for his past blessings and ask him to meet our needs for this trip. I realized this train trip was something we wanted and not really a need the Lord has promised to supply.

I prayed and then laid down for an afternoon nap. A while later the phone rang and then again as my wife answered, so then I got up and answered the third call. Over the next couple hours two more phone calls were answered and they all were about the same thing. Yes, they were all fishing tackle orders for immediate delivery and from the same stores I had called on two days earlier. My wife and I work late into the night to assemble the product and fill the orders. The next day we made the deliveries and sales far exceeded our needs making that month one of the best for the year. My wife and I each made a prayer of praise to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and we had one of the best trips of our lives seeing the country the Lord has blessed over and over. We were able to speak with many people that we met about the Lord and the adventure provided subject material for this column.

The Lord provided for us so we could better serve him as we are his servants. In all my 44 years of selling fishing tackle, I have never had orders called in by retailers as I call on them as a wagon jobber every week or two.
