We see in the Bible the principles of a marriage that the Lord will bless. 1 Corinthians 7, verses 2and 3 " Nevertheless, to avoid fornication let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband." " Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence; and likewise also the wife unto the husband."
Christian families, in this country that the Lord blesses over and over, are now are in the minority. Why have so many young people turned away from marriage commitments and turned to the ways of the world? As the people in the country turn away from worshiping the Lord, they seem to believe the government is now the one to call on for all their needs.
Over the years I have researched my family since my distant grandfather arrived in 1640 as a Puritan. When our family worshiped the Lord, the family prospered and I have not found any divorces in all those centuries. Young people placed their trust and faith in the Lord to give them guidance and protection as they took the big step to a Christian Marriage.
My Christian parents married under conditions that her parents and the world would tells us would not work. My father with only a 10th grade education and six years older than my mother were married in a church wedding only two days after she turned eighteen years old. My mother's siblings were all college grads and they considered her Christian husband a real loser. My father's four sisters were also college grads and they married well, but marriage problems followed them. My parents attended church whenever the doors were open and the Lord blessed them with four children, and carried them through the great depression years. Later in life my dad was showered with the Lords blessings for his faithfulness and helped his sisters in their time of need. All my siblings, two brothers and a sister have married Christian spouses and the Lord has blessed them over and over with lifestyles far above the average family.
When I found a young lady to be my wife, she was from a family that did not attend church and lived a different lifestyle then mine. I prayed for the Lord's guidance, if it was His will and we both began attending church near the Air Force Base I was assigned. She accepted the Lord as her Savior. and was baptized as a Christian believer. We knew the Lord had opened the door for our wedding and told our parents. I was only 20 and she was 17 so we had to get our parents to sign for us to get married, and they could tell we had a strong Christian bond. The Lord blessed us with six children, a very successful life with an untold number of blessings. My wife on her death bed, at age 73 years, she told me, " I have never seen you fail at anything because you pray for the Lord's direction and praise Him for all the blessings we have received". Yes, a Christian life serving the Lord is very rewarding both here on the earth and we look forward to eternity with the Lord for ever.
Trust we will all be in the church of our choice this Sunday, singing and worshiping our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
