TITLE: What Is Your Favorite Period in the Past? | Previous Challenge Entry

I often wish to ask people the following question: What is your favorite period in the past? I will get a lot of responses. Some do not know or else do not have any interest. Those serious about studying the past may say something like, “I like to read about World War II,” or else might say, “I like to read about the American Civil War.”
One can learn a lot from studying what happened so long ago and hope such mistakes will not happen again. However, for me my favorite time in times gone by is ironically the Middle Ages; specifically, the time of the Fourth Crusade. I do not know why it fascinates me, but this event in late Middle Ages interests me greatly. Thinking of this pivotal event makes me wonder for example, what would have happened if those who set forth on this crusade had actually gone to their intended destination instead of the two Christian cities of Zara and Constantinople? One can really use the imagination to ponder such questions as “what if.” Looking into the events of long-ago happenings can really stir up the imagination and make one wish to write about something. The author will need of course to research the period in question before beginning to even consider what to say. Once it is done, then the finished product will hopefully get people’s attention and interest.
So if you have the talent and interest, go ahead and see what happens! Let your imagination go and have fun in the process!
