“They will be here, Sis” he soothed. “They are as anxious to see us as we are to see them. Settle down. We’ll be home soon.”
“After this trip, I will be glad to get home. This has been a nightmare!”
“Little Sis, think of all the new things we got to see. Think about Canada, the scenery was beautiful.”
"Remember, brother dear”, she said exasperated, “we didn’t leave the airport! We were treated like common criminals. No…Worse! We were treated like terrorists! How dare they treat us that way? What gave them the right to do that? And, why, may I ask, are you laughing?!”
“Sorry Sis”, he choked, trying to stifle his giggles. “Security is tight everywhere. We didn’t have the proper documents. What did you expect? Anyway, the security personnel weren’t that bad.”
“You don’t think the security guards were unreasonable? Then how do you explain what the supervisor said to that young guard? ‘Search the old bag’ isn’t exactly nice!”
“Sis, they were just doing their job…They didn’t mean anything by it.”
“I suppose what happened next is even more amusing to you?”
“No…no…it wasn’t amusing at all”, he lied, valiantly trying to hold back his chortle.
“Then why are you still laughing? I have never been so humiliated in my life! Cavity searches! They did cavity searches on me. What did they think I was doing? Carrying drugs or something? It was awful!”
“You have to put that all behind you now, Sis”, he said snickering. “Just forget that it ever happened.”
“Funny, bro. How do you expect me to forget something like that? And why do we have to wait in this stupid security office? Can’t they just take us to the common check out lobby?”
“Quiet Sis. I hear someone coming”, he whispered.
The door to the security office swung open.
“Here we are”, said an officer to the middle aged couple following him. “Are these your pieces of luggage?”
“Yep, that’s them”, said the man. “Our first set of his and hers luggage.”
“They’ve had a long trip”, stated the officer. “They even left the country for a short time.”
“Well then they have had more of an adventure than we had”, replied the lady. “We just went across the state.”
“Sorry for the inconvenience our losing your luggage caused you”, apologized the officer.
“Thank you for finding them”, stated the man as he and his wife each picked up a suitcase and walked out the door.
“We are heading home at last”, whispered the “his” suitcase.
“Its about time”, replied the “hers”.
