The filthiness of a former life
Clung to her memories.
She tasted freedom, but felt chained;
A blackened soul’s disease…
She could not brush it off, like dust,
Or scrub it off like dirt,
The sting remained to scar her life;
She couldn’t forget the hurt…
She made a choice for life today,
Abandoned at the cross,
But where could she unveil the promise
Where all the weight was lost?
She followed a pilgrim to the river,
The choice she made to show—
And then she felt release at last
And let her past life go:
Down in the water she remembered
Her past was crucified
Her filthy soul was cleansed by blood
And sin’s control had died,
She rose again, up from the grave,
In Christ, her life is free,
She lives a new life clothed in love
Won by Christ’s victory!
