That's the significance of this word.
I was supposed to be dead,
Because sin had me rotten to the core.
But God chose to send His son,
To take on what was supposed to be mine,
By virtue of my humanness, my sin,
Himself he chose to undermine.
No, I don't take it for granted,
That He took my place,
I choose to live a life blessed,
By virtue of His grace.
Through life’s ups and downs,
His leniency keeps me,
So many times I let Him down,
But His mercy uplifts.
His sacrifice is as powerful
Today as it was yesterday.
No matter how awful
I am, He forgives me everyday.
No matter what the future holds,
I am glad and happy,
Because He has already crossed that threshold,
Of fear, judgment and uncertainty.
I will forever praise Him,
For this one and done sacrifice.
I will sing a hymn,
Because no righteousness of mine will ever suffice.
