Grandparents are key Mother's figures in the lives of thier grandchildren. Sometimes they have to step in and help thier children raise thier children and that is what happened in my family. My mother passed away six months after she gave birth to me. My father was left with four young children to raise and my grandparents feared he would not be able to do it alone. My mother's sibblings did not hesitate to make an offer to raise us.
My parents were young when they married and began to have children. The assumption was failure was eventful but they were the fruit of ts of good stock. My father was a proud but humbel man. He was determined to keep his family together for himself as well as honor my moms' last wish. After my moms' death my uncles and aunts tried to convince Dad to let them raise us, but Dad was not hearing it; he kept us together.
My grandparents were loving people, they loved the Lord and it was transparent to all. They were my inspiration and I hope I reflect a fraction of thier ifestyle. They took great pains to raise thier children to be self-respecting, God fearing and responsible adults. I was amazed at how they worked together to raise thier children. I am fascinated to know my grandparent had a family system that transcends time
My grandparents are key to the values I embrace as important for a healthy and holistic life. They did not have the education we have today but they had good values and godly principles which helped them to bore raise and support 15 children. Everyone was taught the importance of working together for the sake of the family; family was everything. Godly values kept my grandparents safe and sound in the will of God.
I loved my grandparents home. The warmth of thier love met you at the door; I never wanted to leave. In the mornings homemade biscuits, sizzling bacon and fresh coffee brewing woke you up. I can still see grandmother covered in her white apron, humming a song. Grandfather would be in his rocker rocking to the beat and giving thanks to God for the family and home He had allowed them to have.
The summer I turned 10 my grandmother had a stroke; she died two weeks later. Both my grandparents were diabetics but according to the last doctor's report their blood levels were great. I was devastated to say the least My grandmother was the closest image I had of my mother and now she was gone. The emptiness inside was painful not only for me but my grandfather slowly loss the desire to go on.; she was his everything.
By that November Poppa refused to eat and we had to put him in a nursing home. I didn't want to loose my grandfather; he was my inspiration. I remembered how he would sit in the entrance of the doorway to the kitchen rocking to the would rock to the beat of my grndmother's humming so I would hum and hold his hand.
One day as I was humming he began to smile and called my grndmother's name.My grandfather went to join my grnadmother two days later. I was sad once agin, but I felt good. I felt for the mant times he inspired me I had done something to help him. I miss them both but I knowI will see them all one day and we will never have to seperate the family agin.
