I bought a fancy juicer
So I could squeeze some fruit.
It makes a whirling noise
And the drink is really beaut.
I had to learn some lessons
On how to use it first,
What I could put through it
So I could quench my thirst.
The label on the package
Said whole apples could be done
So I thought 'Why not oranges?"
And the juice began to run.
It looked so sweet and lovely
As it ran into the jug.
Till I took a taste of it
And poured it down the plug.
It was so very bitter
Undrinkable and foul.
The pith had spoiled the flavour
It nearly made me howl.
I learnt a great big lesson
From the juicer that I bought
If bitterness is in there
Sweetness'll come to naught.
The same is true for people
Who look so sweet and pure.
If bitterness is in them
That blight sure will endure.
So now I process apples
And carrots all scrubbed clean.
I squeeze the juice of oranges
On an old manual machine.
I discard the bitter pith
Before the juice I make,
And share the great big lesson
I learned from my mistake.
Purge yourself of bitterness
So sweet you'll always be.
Forgive the ones who hurt you
It'll set your sweetness free.
