Topic: It’s Christmas Day (in the present or living memory) (11/27/08)
Gracie loves spending Christmas with her family, but this Christmas was destined to be a little lonely. It was her parents’ thirtieth wedding anniversary so Gracie and her two older brothers pooled their holiday travel money to send their parents on a cruise in the Caribbean. So here Grace was, stuck in Southern California, alone, dreaming about Colorado snow and honey ham.

“I need to stop feeling sorry for myself and do something!”

But what? No one was still at school, everyone else was traveling or at home with their families. So Gracie picked up her Bible to read the Christmas story out of Luke when a flyer fell out.

Christmas Day Soup Kitchen
December 25 from 2pm to 8pm
Help us give Christmas to the less fortunate!

Gracie was out the door before she even read the whole flyer. The soup kitchen was already underway when she arrived and Gracie quickly started serving the poor and homeless.
After hours of wonderful service, Gracie and the other volunteers started cleaning up. The pastor’s wife, Carol thanked Gracie for coming.

“We don’t usually see many college-aged people at this soup kitchen, but it was great having you here to help us. Your smiling face really brightened this place up, Gracie.”

“Thanks, I am really glad I came. It would have been a lonely Christmas otherwise.”

“Did you learn anything from being here on a day like today?” Carol asked.

“Yeah. Christmas is more than just receiving gifts, it is about giving back.”

You did well drawing your MC, would have liked to have gotten to know some of the ones she touched through her service that day, also. You had plenty of words left, use them to bring the actions around to completeness. :)
