And you will make a new start, listening obediently to GOD, keeping all his commandments that I'm commanding you today.
It’s inevitably difficult to obey all the 10 commandments, now isn’t it? I use to think I was quite pure in heart, until recently a survey with myself proved different. Disappointed to report, I have broken the commandments, and I just bet others have many times too. It’s a mighty tall order for God to pass down, and us humans to follow through and carry out. After all, we are not Jesus, we are not perfect, and yet God’s law is written in stone, and should be written in our hearts.
Make a new start, how many times have I done that? Repeatedly, intently I have listened, or so I thought I listened to the Holy Spirit while reading scripture. In less than a day, I turn around and SIN. It’s like I’m driving my car on cruise control, and feel everything is going well until the need for me to stop suddenly, slamming on the brake. Obedience is like cruise control, “I can follow God’s word, and I am becoming more obedient”. SIN is like speeding on the highway, until all of a sudden my obedience comes to a halt and I have to slam on my brakes, because I have broken my word to God and have sinned. It just sort of happens, I certainly am not perfect, and God knows I am human. The worst part at times, I know I am sinning while I am disobeying my Father in heaven. Can anyone relate to this?
The time span from obedience to SIN, hmm, I’d have to say is short lived. Each day I must repent of my disobedience and once again our Father in heaven showers me with his grace. God’s mercy is stemmed from his unconditional love for each of us. We only need to reach out and touch God’s fingertips and know his mercy endures forever. We must continually turn away from the enemy, and declare whom we are serving.
We all deserve a fresh start each day as we become more obedient to our Father God, listening to his word, and actually becoming his hands and feet. We should strive to take up our cross daily and follow our Lord. None of us are immune from SIN; we only need to know we are forgiven.
