‘Down Time’ is a common situation in life. While pacing my activities with a critically Arthritic body I get to have lots of ‘down time’! Right now, I am waiting for a surgery to cage my lower spine where the nerve is totally pinched off and is causing severe Sciatic Nerve pain. But read on…………
Spiritual Power is what you sense during these ‘Down Times’! God’s Word says:
John 14:13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
These prayer times do make a difference in my life and the life of family and friends. I see that is true!!! These ‘Intercessory Down times’ also make a difference in my community, nation and the world – again, God’s Word says so!
You can start thinking about your ‘Down times’. They aren’t limited be being laid up by a lame body – here are some additional examples of precious ‘down time’ opportunities:
~ Working at a task where you are alone and can set your own atmosphere. Listening to an Audio Bible while into a mindless cleaning chore is encouraging and even inspiring.
~ Traveling – to work or on a trip for several hours. Pray over the neighborhoods you are passing through or a specific business along your route. Pray for the people waiting at the bus stop.
~ Walking is one of my favorites, especially in the woods. Even in a box-store with many people, I pray for those around me and lift them to Our Heavenly Father for protection, spiritual awareness and provision.
~ Enjoying an awesome view of the ocean, a lake, mountains or any detached site. These worship opportunities are where I set my mind and go to sleep. The Lord and I enjoy the sounds, sights, smells of HIS land as we share in a communion of worship.
After I shared this testimony, one lady thanked me for the new awareness and her plan to start prayer and worship while doing her 20-minute inversion table treatment.
A dear friend who is grieving for a son and husband is attacked by the enemy with thoughts of suicide. She is using her ‘Down Time’ for prayer and worship and is sensing real success for several hours at a time. As a musician, singing through The Psalms is her favorite experience.
I challenge you to start considering various ‘Down Times’ in your life where meditation with Our Lord would be a blessing to you.
