Topic: Winter (11/14/05)
I come from WestAfrica. land of sunshine, heat and sweat so you can imagine how winter chills affect me. In West Africa, the sun rises as early as 7a.m and doesn’t set till 6pm.From 7a.m when the sun rises the heat sets in and when it does, it comes with other discomforts. You sweat a lot and your clothes get so sticky. The air is hot and when the wind blows it raises lots of dust. This means your hair and skin gets dirty and needs to be washed as often as you possibly can.

When I was leaving Africa I was so excited! I imagined leaving all that behind and arriving at a whole new world with better weather than the one I left behind. Alas! I met winter. From the airport I was greeted with so much cold I wanted to run back into the aircraft and return to my sunny, hot, sweaty Africa. I was fed up of having to take a bath twice everyday now I complain about having to take a bath at all!
Whereas in Africa I could live as I wanted, here the chills dictate how I live.

Am I complaining? No I am not. For I have learnt that we all have to carry our weather with us, whether it’s sunny and hot or its winter and chilly all the glory belongs to God who made them all.

A few easy edits would make this piece really stand out. Change the references to "you" in the first paragraph to "I", and change the exclamation points to periods, for example. I really liked reading about the contrasts in your experiences with the weather.
