Nimble and now I am stiff
Then playing with dolls, now writing my will
Wishing I’d grow up but now I am still
Oh what of choices that I had back then
Do I wish that I could redo?
I think with a smile of the wonderful joy
When God gave me your brother and you.
There were the days that you drove me to tears
Ornery as boys sometimes will be
But the pride that I felt an I watched you grow
Gives me chills even now as I see
See you as you mimic the things you were taught
See you with those children I love
With glee I watch as they too test your will
And smile as you rise above
So what would I change of the choices I made
When young and your mother I was
Chased more fireflies together, told you more of His love
Been more present, less selfish, more fun
I cherish the memories, though some are forgotten
But one thing for certain I know
That He made us as families was not a mistake
He knew that’s how in His love we would grow
I’ll not always be with you, His plan I’ll complete
With your dad I will live with His Son
So teach them of Him, love them soundly and well
Be more present, less selfish, more fun
