I think you should have stopped with "...it is up to me to make the most of old man winter." That summarizes your whole piece beautifully, and you did a great job of it...almost made a believer out of me (and I HATE winter!)
OOOhhhh! Hot chocolate anyone?? I think I will go make a fire and read awhile. Nice job!

Honesty is what I want when writers critique my work...so work on grammar and editing. But great try.
I am not a winter-loving person but there were word pictures in this meditation that made me at least appreciate the nicer parts of the season...like that third paragraph. Good job utilizing the senses. The piece felt like we were right there listening to your thoughts.

There was a poetic ring to this lovely article. The images conjured up cosiness and a feeling of staying indoors warm while enjoying the beauty outside.

I Love what is written like:
“Chilled winds brushing against our faces, drafts of cold air pouring down our necks and hands feel like ice sickles, old man winter is upon us. Summer, but a memory and the scent of fall leaves burning lingers in the air.”

“The halo around the moon reminds us of approaching storms, winter is here.”
“Keep stoking the fireplace, settle in as we sip on hot chocolate…watching old movies and warming our noses. Listening to the harsh cold winter winds as it bends our trees, swaying back and forth. A good night to warm”

“The brightness of morning awakens us to uncertain depths of snow, and drifting as the winds beat upon our home. Stepping into my warm slippers, throwing on my robe I gaze outside and watch the glistening snowflakes dance as they are gathered upon the ground.”
“it is up to me to make the most of old man winter”

This is Honesty so beautifully said, for I see the beauty of what is written. I am not good in grammar and I know all this stuff is important too. I am thankful for Marilyn, Jan and others who are excellent too in critique and give us value suggestions. Thanks so much for sharing this Beautiful piece. I am not good at singing or writing, but I think this is well said. God Bless, Helen
