This truely is a prayer and so I wasn't too worried about meter or flow. Hope you enjoy anyway.
You Said, A Prayer to the Father

You said you would never leave me,
Nor would you forsake,
How do you continue to give?
When all we do is take.

You said, “Behold I stand at the door and knock”
You said, “If anyone hears my voice and opens the door I will come in”
How can you still be knocking?
When all we do is sin.

Your word says, “For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world,
but that the world through him might be saved”
You said that for the righteous
With gold, the streets would be paved.

You said if we ask forgiveness
That you would surely forgive
And if we so choose
A prosperous life to live

You said if we should ask
It would be given unto us
If a life for you we live
Put in you our trust

The answer to these questions
Come to us through your word
It tell of your unconditional love
Many times we have heard

So God, today I pray
Forgiveness for my sin
That you would wipe my slate clean
A new life to begin

I pray God, hear this prayer
Help me become more like you
Right now my heart is tarnished
I don’t know what else to do

I pray dear heavenly father,
Bring me to my knees,
There’s nothing I want more in life,
Than for you to please

Be with me each day oh God,
As I make my way to you,
And try to be who you want me to be,
Your will, on Earth to do.
