The Old Testament is a treasure trove
Of analogies that picture Christ;
Scarlet threads the Holy Author wove,
Divine connections, sovereign and concise.

All its words are by the breath of God;
Nothing is unimportant or mundane;
Given, to be learned and understood;
God's plan of redemption is explained.

His creative work is without debate;
In six days, by His Word, He made it all;
Our first parents forsook their perfect state;
Through Jesus Christ, God would reverse the fall.

Abraham obeyed The Lord's command,
Led Isaac up the mount to sacrifice;
God furnished instead a substitute ram:
Our substitute would be the Perfect Christ!

God gave Moses the feast of Passover,
A memorial of deliverance;
Blood on the doorposts provided cover;
For the redeemed, Christ's blood is our defence.

The Suffering Servant of Isaiah
Prefigured Christ's suffering and the cross;
Jesus, Who is Israel's Messiah
Shed His blood---the redemption price for us.

Only blood sacrifice could cover sin,
Death being the solemn penalty imposed;
Through faith, the blood provided covering
Until the Perfect Lamb of God arose!

Christ entered the Most Holy Place above
With His own blood as atonement for sin:
Perfect fulfillment of God's great plan of love:
Proof it was sufficient---Jesus rose again!!

"Wonderful and marvellous Mighty Lord,
Your work is perfect; great are all Your ways;
God of Truth; You are faithful to Your Word:
Your redeemed ones forever sing Your praise"!!
