I don’t know about you but nothing seems to taste better than a lightly buttered hot roll, right out of the oven, that seems to just melt in your mouth. Before I met my husband, I never knew that there was any difference between good bread and bad bread.

Gaetan often says that the bread in Colorado just doesn’t measure up to New York where he was raised. After going to New York with him, I would have to agree. Perhaps it is the climate or the water that lends to the perfect loaf there.

Today, I want to talk to you about the bread of Life. Not the kind of bread that you may enjoy eating that is sold at the grocery store, but Jesus, our bread of Life. Do we hunger for Him in the same manner? Jesus said,

"This is the bread which came down out of heaven; not as the fathers ate and died;
he who eats this bread will live forever."
(John 6:58)

We know Jesus was speaking of Himself here because he had earlier said,
“I am the bread of Life.” (John 6:48)

Jesus was saying here that if we trust Him and believe in His Word, that His bread will sustain us. Jesus is not talking about the kind of bread you and I eat. He is talking in a spiritual sense here. Spiritually we will never hunger again. Our search for life’s meaning will end once we find the bread of Life. Of course we will hunger physically because that is how God made our bodies.

Have you ever met someone who had everything going for them? They had a big house, a nice car and lots of money in the bank, yet they experienced emptiness inside? Jesus is the only one, the bread of Life that is capable of filling that void. Before I knew Jesus the way I do now, I tried to fill that void with food or activities. Maybe you know someone who fills that void with alcohol or drugs or ill behavior. I pray today that you will lean upon and trust the Word of God that says,

“O taste and see that the LORD is good; how blessed is the man who takes
refuge in Him!”
(Psalm 34:8)
