God, are you there?

I heard of you when I was very young --
People talked about your greatness, majesty and glory -- about the Bible and the Redemption story

I feel so unloved and truly alone.

I hear voices of death calling, "come to me, come on."

In my heart I know that I should resist and not listen, I don’t belong to him, I don’t belong there.

I feel so lost. Do I belong anywhere?

God, are you listening? Oh God, are you there?

What about those nights I drowned my pillow with tears?

Through all the abuse, for all those years?

I hear the voices calling again, beckoning me and calling my name.

I want to believe you are there, I want to believe with all my heart.

People tell me not to give up, for you won't let me fall.

They say you will change my life and give me a new start if just reach out to you and call your name.

So I'm taking that step, I'm taking a chance, God...
