Psalm 1267
I have a yearning to feel love, Father,
and I don’t know how or where to begin.
All I know is where
I’ve been without true love
I’ve said the words, “I love you,” to someone before
thinking and believing I really did.
As time passed on, that feeling changed.
If it was true love I was feeling
it wouldn’t have changed
it would stay the same
just like You, Father,
from the beginning of creation until now
You are still the same.
All that You say and promise,
Is.
Nothing about You changes.
For this reason, Father, I am grateful.
Thank You for taking me
as I am broken and flawed.
I have a request, Father, I want to experience
love the way You meant it to be
with deep commitment and trust.
I don’t want it to be superficial like saying,
“I love you,” just because I sleep with someone and enjoy it.
That too fades over time and that love vanishes
just as quick as a brisk wind
revealing that isn’t true love either.
What is love without the commitment and trust?
It is like a stone in water that quickly sinks.
So prepare me, Father,
to experience this love which I’ve not experienced before
should this be Your will
for my aching heart is resonating the love I have to give.
Reserve this commitment I desire for whom
it was meant to be shared.
I ask this in Jesus’ name,
Amen.
Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty,
Who was, and is, and is to come.
